Jefferson County Genealogy Chapter Welcomes Local Historian, Virginia Glenn.

April 24 @ 1:00 pm

The first of four 2022 Lecture Series.  Topic- “The Story of Mary Wells”.

It begins with two young Castleman sisters taken by Indians at the mouth of Croxton’s Run in 1791.

The younger sister Margaret was sold as a slave to a trapper. The older sister Mary was married to a half Indian Chief named Isaac Williams who became a drunkard and threatened to hurt her. Mary left her two Indian children, a boy and a girl and found her way back to Holiday’s Cove to her parents. That’s not the end of the story…

Stories based on the information from the book titled, “I walked the footsteps of my Father’s.” Written by Helen York Rose
