February is Heart Healthy month celebrate with a Winter Hike.
Meet at the Old Stone Lodge/Purple “Trailhead Sign,” where the stone wall at the old Caretakers House is located (on the left, first parking lot before the 1st stone bridge), will begin promptly at 10 a.m. This is a Level Two Hike to the Old Stone Lodge. If you complete the entire hike, it will be a little over 3 miles, with portions of the hike uphill on the way.
Bring bottled water and/or a backpack with a warm drink, snacks, hand warmers. hat, etc.
At the stone lodge, anyone can stop and sit by the fire OR you can continue with some of us to the McCook/Red trail and loop to the cemetery and back to the old stone lodge where we can all warm up by the fire. You can bring/carry a small fold up chair (or sit on a log) by the fire. We will hike back down to our cars.
Anyone attending can do part or all of the hike and leave and complete the hike at their own pace or schedule.
This event could be cancelled due to bitter cold or ice. If there is snow and winter temps, the hike will take place, after all, it is a winter hike.
