70th Year Anniversary and Historic Tour hosted by Friends of Historical Society of Mt. Pleasant, OH

August 5, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

For our 70th year we decided to do things a bit differently for our annual tour. Rather than focusing on tours of privately owned homes, this year’s tour will focus on experiences, education and immersion.

The theme of this year’s annual tour is Traditional Crafts and Trades. We’ll have demonstrations and workshops including soap making, basket making, silk scarf painting, pottery throwing and more. Some workshops, such as the basket making and scarf painting, will be scheduled and will have a $5.00 charge to cover the cost of supplies which participants will be able to take home.

Workshops, pottery demo and soap making talk are scheduled for Saturday. Sunday will have a free presentation on Historic beverages.

Saturday Vintage Car Cruise In!

Visit the Elizabeth House to see real silk worms!

Lunch will be available at the S. Gill House this year!

In addition to  five mainstay historical society properties, visitors will likewise have the opportunity to tour the Quaker Yearly Meeting House property, the grounds of the ca. 1840s Benjamin Walker House (currently undergoing restoration) and the Samuel Gill House (next door to the Friends Church). We’ll also have our popular drovers camp and blacksmith shop setup.

The tour will be held on Saturday, August 4 from 10:00AM –5:00PM and Sunday, August 5 from 1:00PM – 5:00PM.
