Here in Steubenville you will find our city's rich history painted on outside
walls in larger-than-life proportions. Instead of turning the pages of a book,
you need only turn a corner to come face to face with stories of the past. See
all twenty-five murals painted in Downtown Steubenville and Hollywood Plaza,

Old Fort Steuben
Old Fort Steuben is an 18th century fort reconstructed on the original site
overlooking the Ohio River. Built to protect surveyors who were laying out
the Seven Ranges of the Northwest Territory, the fort housed 150 soldiers and
now provides an authentic experience of military life in the wilderness of
Ohio. The fort hosts an archaeology dig and the annual Fort Steuben Festival
the third weekend in June. Guided tours available. Group rates. Parking for
cars and buses.

First Federal Land Office
Get a glimpse of the life of the first settlers in Ohio at the First Federal
Land Office of the United States. This structure, built in 1801, also served
as the home of the area's first land agent David Hoge. On the grounds is the
massive 2½ ton bell from the Jefferson County Courthouse. Located next to Old
Fort Steuben at 3rd & Adams Streets. Open by appointment.

Jefferson Co. Historical
Museum
Tour the collection of local historic treasures displayed in a nineteen-room,
English Tudor style mansion at the Jefferson County Historical Museum. Each
room features a different theme, such as children toys, Ohio presidents, Civil

Historic Mount Pleasant
Take a step back in time to visit the Village of Mount Pleasant, tucked away
among Eastern Ohio's lush, rolling hills. Located 25 miles southwest of
Steubenville, enjoy the drive there along an Ohio Scenic Byway. Tour six
historic buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Don't miss the
Friends Yearly Meeting House, a Quaker meeting place built in 1814 that seats

Edwin Stanton Statue
The Statue dedicated to Steubenville native Edwin McMasters Stanton is located
on the corner of Market and 3rd Streets in front of the Jefferson County Court
House. Stanton served as in many Government offices, most famously as Abraham
Lincoln's Secretary of War during the Civil War. In 2005, the Statue was
